In Moscow, a court sentenced a realtor to six years in a general regime colony for defrauding three clients out of 27 million rubles. Lenta.ru was informed about this by the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the capital.
The woman was found guilty under Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Fraud”).
According to investigators, in 2021, a married couple approached the convict who wanted to sell the apartment. The swindler convinced the couple to transfer the right to manage the property to her, and then sold their home at a reduced price. As a result, she took 2.4 million rubles for herself.
In the same year, a woman offered to help another Muscovite get rid of debts to creditors. She persuaded the victim to sign a donation agreement for an apartment worth more than nine million rubles in her favor. Then the realtor posted an advertisement for the sale of her apartment in the city center. The buyer who responded took out a large amount on credit. During the transaction, the defendant convinced the man to rent a safe at the bank and put money there for safekeeping. Then the defendant came alone to the bank and, having deceived the staff, stole more than 15.5 million rubles from the cell.
Previously, Russians were given advice on how to protect themselves from unscrupulous realtors. Director of the Yakovlev and Partners legal group Maria Yakovleva said that unscrupulous realtors often post advertisements on their websites for the sale of apartments without the consent of the owners.
