Real Madrid tries to avoid the neighborhood complaint by blaming the noise at the Bernabéu on the event promoters

The judicial front for Real Madrid due to the noise of their concerts in their stadium has been left open. This Tuesday the first hearing was held for the complaint that the Neighborhood Association of People Injured by the Bernabéu had filed against the merengue club, attended by Florentino Pérez’s right-hand man, Jose Ángel Sánchez.

According to sources present at the hearing who have been consulted by this newspaper, JAS has tried, together with the director of infrastructure of Real Madrid, Francisco Panadero, to divert the blame for the noise and during his appearance he has focused on blaming the noise exceedances on the concert promoters. At some point he has even blamed singers who did not want to lower the volume of their speakers.

The white club has used as evidence the fines worth 801,000 euros imposed by the City Council on the concert promoters for events in which the noise levels legally permitted by the municipal ordinance were exceeded.

They have also stated, in their defense, that Florentino Pérez’s stadium is the “best soundproofed stadium in Europe.” Despite this, Real Madrid has suspended all concerts in its stadium until spring next year, while it carries out works to reduce noise levels. Experts consulted by Somos Madrid warned that this encapsulation is “almost impossible” and that it is very likely that future musical performances will continue to cross sound limits.

The neighbors, for their part, have reported that the noise generated by the concerts is 2,500 times the maximum permitted. “We are in this situation because someone has made the bad decision of trying to create a business model that is not legal because you cannot even hold concerts in the stadium because it does not have a license to do so and it is also not soundproofed. “It’s nonsense,” a neighborhood spokesperson stressed at the end of the hearing, in statements reported by Europa Press.

He has detailed that the association has carried out 155 noise measurements in the 18 concerts that have taken place, in all of them exceeding the levels of “a beastly average” as it was said on average more than 2,500 times.

The neighbors argue in their lawsuit against Real Madrid Stadium – the company that rents the white arena for events – that the responsibility for the noise emission lies with the football club itself and not the promoters, just like the ruling for airport noise. de Barajas fell on Aena and not on the planes that used its runways and caused the noise.

Today is the first step of a long ladder that Real Madrid will have to climb until they know whether or not they can avoid this new front opened in the Investigative Court number 53 in Madrid. The complainant Neighborhood Association of People Injured by the Bernabéu maintains that the concerts that have been held in the stadium since last July 26 “involve non-compliance with the urban planning license that requires the adoption of soundproofing measures.”

For the neighborhood spokesperson, it is not “a football problem or a Real Madrid problem, but a public health problem.” “There is damage to the health of thousands of citizens, but we must not forget that around the Bernabéu, only in the area that we could call ground zero, there are around 800 homes, that is, some 2,000 or so people living there.” “who have suffered serious problems,” he added.
