Real Madrid wants to speed up the midfielder’s return Jude Bellingham after his injury and could count on the Englishman for his first match after the international break.
A foot injury ruled Bellingham out of action on 18 August and he was expected to miss more than a month of action with a problem that was serious enough to keep him out of the England squad for September matches against the Republic of Ireland and Finland.
Few expected to see Bellingham back in action this month, but according to The Athletic The 21-year-old is being lined up to make the trip to Real Sociedad on September 14.
Not only could Bellingham travel, but manager Carlo Ancelotti is considering giving him minutes as he looks to combat an injury crisis that has worsened during the international break.
Eduardo Camavinga remains out, while Dani Ceballos is set to miss around two months with an ankle injury. Aurelien Tchouameni withdrew from the France squad earlier this week after suffering a problem, as did left-back Ferland Mendy.
The injury problems did not end there. Centre-back Eder Militao left the Brazilian national team after complaining of a thigh problem, before reports began to emerge of a two-week absence for 19-year-old defender Jacobo Ramon. Coupled with David Alaba’s long-term injury, Ancelotti now has a major problem in central defence.
These growing problems could lead Ancelotti to call up Bellingham early, although ACE still expects the midfielder to miss another three weeks.
Madrid are under pressure after a poor start to the season in which they have picked up just eight points from four games. Although they sit second in the La Liga table, they are already four points behind Hansi Flick’s Barcelona.
