Real Madrid, Carlo Ancelotti reveals: “I will coach until…”
How long will he coach? “As long as I remain at Real Madrid”, the words of Carlo Ancelotti in an interview with La Repubblica. The coach from Reggiolo, whose contract expires in 2026 with the Madrid club, and will turn 65 in two weeks, meanwhile looks to the present: the final against Borussia Dortmund.
Now the Madrid fans – 500 million counted – and the club expect the fifteenth European Cup from her… «I’m a Madridista too, I identify with this shirt and I want to make the people and the club happy. We are in the Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund, Saturday at Wembley. Not easy. They are strong, they go from defense to attack in an instant. They eliminated PSG in the semi-finals and Atletico in the quarter-finals.”
His players portray him as a father. «I simply behave naturally. And with respect towards everyone. For me, interpersonal relationships come before working ones: this obviously pays off. If a changing room doesn’t work, it means you’ve done something wrong”, he tells Repubblica.
But are you really the same as in your first Champions League final? Carletto has no doubts. «Yes, I feel like I did then. Maybe I delegate a little more training to Davide and Francesco. But playing every three days, it’s not like you can train much.”
On Italian footballers… «I don’t see any champions, apart from Donnarumma in goal. I’m talking about a generation similar to that of Pirlo, Totti, Del Piero. We still need some time.”
A problem for Spalletti at the European Championship? “This no. However, the average is good, the group is there. The team can do well.”
