Real Madrid are reportedly interested in Juanlu Sanchez, a Sevilla player who recently won an Olympic title with the Spanish national team in Paris. The 21-year-old plays as a right-back, but can also play on the wing and in midfield.
According to the newspaper ACELos Blancos are not the only team that is after the player. Manchester United are also interested in him and even sent scouts to watch Juanlu during the Olympic tournament this summer.
The Red Devils’ management are said to have been impressed enough by Juanlu to continue monitoring his progress in La Liga so far this season.
Meanwhile, Madrid are believed to be interested in Juanlu due to his profile, which combines strength with speed, as well as his positional versatility. Although Ancelotti’s side have the right-back position well covered with Carvajal and the conversion of Lucas Vázquez, the Bernabéu have been looking for a replacement for some time now.
However, Sevilla are looking to ward off interest and tie Juanlu down to a new contract, as his current deal at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán expires in 2026. His contract contains a €20m release clause and the Sevillian club are also determined to significantly increase that figure in any new deal, believing he is worth far more than that sum.
Another team that was interested in the Sevilla full-back was Bournemouth at the beginning of the summer, but their attempts failed and they decided on Barcelona player Julián Araujo.
Juanlu has made 43 appearances for the senior national team in all competitions to date and also has experience in the Champions League. This season, he has so far participated in all 4 of Sevilla’s La Liga games and scored in his team’s 2-2 draw at Las Palmas on the first weekend of the 2024/25 campaign.
