Reader’s Opinion | So gender didn’t matter at the Jussi gala?

Why, in the story about the Jussi gala, was it necessary to accurately record the winners of different categories specifically by gender?

On culture pages (HS 26.3.) wrote about the Jussi gala with the title “Gender-neutral prizes were awarded for the first time at Jussei“.

It is of course great and right that gender does not affect the evaluation of actors either. However, while reading the story, I felt that the writing itself was far from gender neutral. If gender doesn’t matter, why was it necessary to accurately record the winners and nominees of different categories specifically by gender?

If there is something bad about gender neutrality in this matter, it is that the number of awardees decreases. Hopefully, this will not be solved by adding categories.

As gender equality continues to develop, would it be necessary to neutralize the names of these competitions as well: Jussi, Emma and Venla?
