We’re back to fighting
It’s finally time to get back to talking about Superbikes after almost two months in which no official race weekends took place in the top series of motorcycles derived from series production. We start again after three rounds already played, and with the fourth arriving this weekend at Misano Adriaticothe first of the two tracks that will welcome Superbike in Italy this year.
Razgatlioglu warns everyone
A circuit where, in reality, teams and riders had already arrived at the end of May for testing, and where the 2021 world champion had particularly impressed Toprak Razgatlioglu. The Turk, in his first season in BMW, had in fact achieved the time of 1:32.535almost half a second faster than track record signed by reigning champion Alvaro Bautista in last year’s Superpole.
Always at ease in Misano
If we add to this the two consecutive victories obtained on the track named after Marco Simoncelli dating back to 2021 and 2022, the former Yamaha rider seems one of the strongest candidates for success, even if the first to have recognized strong competition was same #54: “It looks like I’m ready to race – said Razgatlioglu a Speedweekwinner of three races this year and 6 points behind championship leader Bautista – everyone here is happy and doing their best. Iannone, Bulega, Bautista, they are all very strong riders, but Petrux and Alex Lowes are also strong, as is his brother Sam. All these guys have started the season well.”
World title not unlikely
Fierce challenges and optimism ahead of Misano, but for Razgatlioglu the objectives for this season are much bigger: “It seems that it is possible to win the championship – he added – before the season, I said that we could get some podiums and some victories. But now my mentality has completely changed. I’m focused on winning the championship, and why not? It’s my first year with BMW. With this bike, maybe we are not 100% ready yet, but we are working step by step and we get stronger with every race weekend“.
