Art and research together in a single powerful demonstration of solidarity. The Rotary Clubs of Pisa, Pisa Galilei and Pacinotti have joined together in organizing SLAnci d’amore, a benefit show in favor of Aisla and the Un Passo per Te Foundation. The day of May 24th was characterized by a packed Palatodisco of San Giuliano Terme, which began with a scientific conference attended by researchers and clinicians from all over Italy. And numerous volunteers from Tuscany were present together with the local health and social institutions. Over 400 people attended the show. This was the first edition of an event dedicated not only to raising awareness about ALS, but also to providing concrete support. Over 10 thousand euros were raised which will be donated to Aisla Area Vasta Toscana Nord-Ovest, to finance the remote monitoring project of the area.
With the extraordinary participation of Ron, Aisla’s testimonial, who made his singing a mission, the evening, hosted by Serena Magnanensi, was a riot of artists. On stage, in fact, present Irene Fornaciari, Alberto Nelli, Graziano Salvadori, Paolo Giommarelli, Kagliostro and Animeniacs Corps. The testimony of jazz musician Nick Becattini was touching, as he shared his experience of illness and his rapprochement with faith.
“For years I have been alongside people with ALS, aware of the silent strength that these friends, who I call giants, are able to demonstrate – declared Ron – It is incredible for me to know that what is most precious to me, my voice, becomes a tool to express their strength”. The three presidents of Rotary awarded the famous singer-songwriter the “Paul Harris Fellow”, the highest Rotary honor which takes his name in honor of Paul Harris, the founder of Rotary. “Aisla is family. And in a family love is everything – declared Fulvia Massimelli, national president of Aisla – SLAnci d’amore tells the profound meaning of our vision and of Aisla’s story itself: a powerful will, which makes us believe we can achieve the impossible, and the widespread solidarity between us, which strongly supports us here and now, in the difficult moments of our daily battle against the disease”.
