Building on a notable success in Europe, Ford has already shown the new generation that will also be the basis of the new VW Amarok
Ford has invested heavily in the development of its new Ranger, and there are two main reasons why. First of all, the one currently on the market has quickly become the best-selling pickup in Europe with over 45,000 registrations in 2021 alone, surpassing many car models. The second reason is industrial in nature, because part of the alliance with the VW group is based on the Ranger, on whose chassis the next generation Amarok will be based. In any case, the commercial debut of these models is still far away: to see the new Ranger, which is produced in Thailand and South Africa, on the roads of the Old Continent, we will have to wait until the first months of 2023. Ford dealerships will open orders already by the end. 2022, and to keep the attention high, the House has already revealed the first images.
REMEMBER F-150
–
The proportions are those that almost all pick-ups have in common: high and massive bonnet, four-door cabin and a large rear body designed to stow objects of all kinds, with a door with additional functions such as being used as a work table. The design takes up the language of the older brother F-150, but also the interiors, where a new vertical infotainment Sync 4, 10.1 “or 12”, inserted in a dashboard, follows the setting of the best-selling pick-up. of America. The multimedia system is the nerve center of the car: from here you can control all the main functions, from the 360 ° video camera to the driving modes. Also upgradeable over-the-air, it will be continuously improved to add new features.
RAPTOR
–
As mentioned, Ford has taken on the task of developing global mechanics suitable for accommodating various commercial vehicles. For this reason, the Dearborn brand has created a new frame with a hydroformed front structure, with an extended wheelbase of 50 mm and widened track widths of the same size. In this way, an updated version of the V6 3.0 turbodiesel, that of the F-150, will find space inside the hood. Alongside the six-cylinder there will also be two other 2.0-liter units, again running on diesel, with single (in two power steps) or double turbo. In the price lists there will be room for manual gearboxes and an automatic with by-wire control, even if Ford has not yet provided the definitive details regarding the European version. But certainly in the range there will be all-wheel drive and a high-performance Raptor version, which will be unveiled in February.
