Mustafa Al-Deeb, Murad Al-Masry (Abu Dhabi)
Tears flowed from Ismail Matar, the “leader” and “legend” of Al Wahda, after his team won the Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank Cup, after defeating Al Ain by a goal in the final, at Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium, in the capital, Abu Dhabi, and the “legend” carried the last cup in his long and wonderful career. After he announced his retirement at the end of the current season.
Matar addressed the “Al-Anabi” fans in the stands, during the team’s celebrations of roaming the cup on the field, and said: Thank you for the support and patience, and this title is a start, and what is coming is better for the unit. The players will not fail in their efforts, and they will make you happy in the future with the league title and the Cup of His Highness the President. The state, and thanks to all the masses without exception, have always been “the best support” in various situations.
After a career of more than twenty years with “Their Excellencies”, during which he witnessed most of the team’s championships that he won, whether the league, or the Cup of His Highness the President of the State, Matar’s career as a player ended, but he did not end as a “legend” who remains in the records of history and in the hearts of Al-Wahda fans. Who always set an example in fighting to defend the club’s shirt, and before that, raising the nation’s flag with the national team.
Matar thanked Al-Wahda fans in particular, stressing that their unlimited support had a great impact on what he achieved, and stressed that winning the Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank Cup title came after the diligence and dedication of the players, stressing that the value of the Al-Wahda and Al-Ain match is great, and everyone knows it, and the victory Being named “The Leader” is a great and wonderful honor, especially since it came at the expense of Al Ain.
He added: The championship is great for me because it came as a gift at the end of the journey, noting that the cup plays an important role in the career of young people who have not tasted the taste of championships.
Ismail Matar pointed out that he misses many of the things he experienced in the stadiums, but what he misses most is hearing the playing of the national anthem, when representing the country in international and continental forums, stressing that he achieved this honor, and it was the happiest thing in his life.
Regarding his career after retirement, he said: Anything that serves my country, I go to it, whether in analysis or training, and I do not know specifically, but what is important is that it benefits the youth in the future in the world of the “round witch.”
Ismail Matar revealed that the championship is his last in his career, and he spoke during the press conference before the match, stressing that he hopes to win his last title at the expense of Al Ain, which is what was actually achieved on the ground.
Fahd Masoud, Al-Wahda’s manager, thanked the fans for their interaction and support, and said: “We are not in our normal situation recently, but the supporters of Al-Annabi supported the team, and we looked forward to the ending being a victory for Ismail Matar, and he is able to continue giving, but he chose “This decision is to retire, and we always have great ambition in the next stage.”
For his part, Sultan Al Zaabi, the Al Wahda player, dedicated the title to the club’s leadership, to the fans, and to Ismail Matar, and said: “The goal pass came perhaps because I was in my day, and very happy with this victory and the title.”
Abdullah Hamad, Al-Wahda player, said: “Hardk for Al-Ain, and we wish them success in the Asian final. The two teams played a great match, and our fans are always present with us in all circumstances, and they deserve this title.”
He pointed out that his team showed the appropriate character for this type of big match, and said: “We faced a competitor who had good players, but we played a match for the fans and the club, and I am very happy with the victory, and I dedicated the title to the fans who came to support us.”
He added: “I did not receive any offer from the club, so perhaps this is my best farewell to the team that deserves to win this title.”
Al Wahda player Lucas Pimenta said: “The presence of the fans to support us is very wonderful. After Ghez’s good performance last week, I dedicate the victory to my wife and daughter.”
He added: The statistics are in Al Ain’s favor, but we did the required work and achieved victory in a “big derby” match.
