All ready to get back on track
In the United States, there is great anticipation for the return of IndyCar, which will restart its engines on August 17 after a summer break that lasted almost a month and began with the only test held outside the United States on the Toronto street circuit. The top American open-wheel series will return to the track for the 13th round of the season on the oval in Madison, Illinois, but the other important news focused on the driver who will make his return to IndyCar the following weekend, scheduled for August 25th in Portland.
Vips returns to the USA
The team Rahal Letterman Lanigan has in fact made official his return after a year of Juri Vipsan Estonian driver who made his debut in this category in 2023 in Portland, also taking part in the following race in Laguna Seca. For this occasion, Vips will drive the #75 Honda-powered car alongside teammates Rahal, Fittipaldi and Lundgaard: “I am very grateful to the team for giving me this opportunity. – said Vips, former Red Bull test driver – I’ve been working closely with the team on the sim program and it’s been a year since I’ve been in the car, but I’m confident that the experience I gained last year in Portland and Laguna Seca will help me get up to speed quickly. It’s still going to be a very big challenge and I’m looking forward to it.”
To these words were added those of Bobby Rahalco-owner of the team together with Mike Lanigan and the famous television host David Letterman: “We are happy to be able to race with Juri in Portland for a number of reasons. – has explained – First of all, he proved both in Portland and Laguna Seca last year that he has the necessary step to participate in any event with us. He’s done a lot of work for us in the simulator this year, helping us understand the hybrid system, so it’s nice to reward him for his efforts. I hope this leads to more races with RLL.”
