Aide to the President Oreshkin admitted that inflation in Russia will be lower than in the EU
Inflation in Russia in the second quarter of 2023 may be lower than in the European Union (EU). Such a development of events was predicted by the assistant to President Vladimir Putin Maxim Oreshkin, reports RIA News on Saturday, July 16th.
“Now it may turn out that somewhere in the second quarter of next year, inflation in Russia will be significantly lower than in the same European Union,” Oreshkin said during his speech at the Territory of Meanings forum.
According to him, this will largely be achieved through the country’s self-sufficiency in basic resources, including energy, food and materials.
Earlier in July, the European Commission raised its estimate of inflation in the EU in 2022 to 8.3 percent from 6.8 percent. At the same time, inflation in the European Union is expected to reach 4.6 percent in 2023. In Russia, according to the forecast of the Central Bank, in 2023 an indicator of 6.1 percent is expected, in the next two years – 4.2 and 4 percent, respectively.
