Russian President Vladimir Putin said that NATO is leading a confrontational line against Russia and declares it to be its adversary. He stated this during a press conference following the Russian-Greek talks, a recording of which was published on Youtube-channel “Russia 24”.
“As for NATO, this is a military bloc. Unfortunately, the NATO bloc is clearly pursuing a confrontational line with respect to Russia, but the last questions seem to be of a technical nature, nevertheless, the expulsion of our diplomats, which ultimately led to the fact that we closed the corresponding NATO structure in Moscow, suggests that that the structure is disposed towards us, to put it mildly, unfriendly. In addition, he declares Russia his adversary, ”the president said.
He added that Russia does not seek any confrontations, and also expressed the hope that Greece will take a “containment position.” According to the Russian leader, Greece’s membership in the European Union and NATO has never interfered with the development of relations between Athens and Moscow.
Also during a press conference, Putin answered a “provocative question” about the attack on Ukraine. He said that Moscow is pursuing a peaceful foreign policy, but reserves the right to defend its own security.
