Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday offered his condolences to Britain over the “irreparable loss” of Queen Elizabeth II.
In a letter to King Charles III, Britain’s new monarch, Putin said the Queen “rightfully enjoyed the love and respect of her subjects as well as power on the world stage”.
“I wish you courage and steadfastness in the face of this difficult and irreparable loss. I ask you to convey my sincere condolences and support to the members of the royal family and to the entire people of Britain.”
The Russian President stressed that “the most important events in the contemporary history of the United Kingdom are closely linked to the name of Her Majesty.”
