Moscow.- The Mexican government invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to the inauguration ceremony of new President Claudia Sheinbaum, a Russian agency reported, according to the invitation from the Mexican Embassy in Russia.
“Russia’s invitation to participate in the inauguration of President Sheinbaum was sent to President Putin. The Russian president will decide whether he will participate in the ceremony himself or appoint another high-ranking official to do so on his behalf,” said the Mexican diplomat.
The Russian Embassy in Mexico City, for its part, confirmed that the Kremlin has received an invitation to Sheinbaum’s inauguration ceremony.
Mexico is subject to the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court (ICC), which ordered the arrest of the Russian leader for war crimes in Ukraine, so the leader will decide whether to send someone on his behalf.
