Putin’s position came during a meeting with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, which is being held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
This is the Chinese President’s visit to Uzbekistan, his first abroad, since the outbreak of the “Covid 19” epidemic.
On the other hand, Putin said that his country condemns what he considered “American provocations” on the island of Taiwan, stressing that Moscow supports the one-China policy.
The vicinity of the island of Taiwan witnessed great tension, recently, against the backdrop of the visit of the US House of Representatives Speaker, Nancy Pelosi, to Taipei, in a move that Beijing viewed as a provocative step, so it initiated major military exercises in the region.
Putin said: “I am confident that our meeting today will give additional impetus to deepening the partnership between Russia and China.”
The Russian president condemned what he described as attempts to create a unipolar world, in criticism of the positions of Western countries that seek to encircle the Moscow and Beijing leagues.
Western countries have long warned China against providing support to Russia, which has been subjected to a wide range of economic sanctions, following the launch of military operations in Ukraine.
