Vladimir Putin “forced” by God to invade Ukraine with attacks that would pave the way for the battle of the Apocalypse in Israel: this is the thesis of the elderly American television preacher Pat Robertson, who emerged from retirement in an episode of the “700 Club”, the show he conducted for 55 years on the Christian Broadcasting Network. Putin followed God’s wishes to fulfill a biblical prophecy, Robertson saidwho in 1988 ran for the White House with the Republicans supported by a coalition of white fundamentalists and the religious right.

“You could say that Putin is out of his mind, and maybe he is. But at the same time he was forced by God. He went to Ukraine, but that was not the goal. The goal was to move against Israel“, said the 91-year-old TV preacher, citing verses from the Book of Ezekiel according to which the nations of the Earth will unite against Israel and suggesting that Ukraine is simply the” preparatory ground “for the final battle of the Apocalypse.

“God is preparing to do something extraordinary,” added Robertson whose comments posted on Twitter have had millions of views. It is not the first time that the evangelical tycoon risks predictions about Armageddon: in 1980 he set the date of the Last Judgment in 1982, and then, in 1990, he set the end of time on April 29, 2007.
