The latest winner of Marterchef Junior, María Gómez and Pablo González will star in a ‘showcooking’ with tastings this weekend
Cartagena Puerto de Sabores faces its second edition with the challenge that “everyone can try what they most want”, explained the director of the contest, Sergio Gallego, during the presentation, this Monday at the Cartagena City Hall, of this event organized by LA VERDAD, from June 3 to 5.
Wines, beers, Asian coffees, ice creams, seafood, pastries and bakery, selected cured meats and Mediterranean, Italian, Japanese and fusion specialties will be available to those who come to the harbor promenade that leads to the cruise terminal.
In addition, there will be ‘showcooking’ with tastings with the winner of the last edition of Masterchef Junior, Guillem, and with top-level chefs such as Pablo González, from Cabaña Buenavista and María Gómez, from Magoga, both awarded with Michelin stars. Also with Quim Gabarró, who comes from Jordi Cruz’s kitchen team, and will soon lead the new Alviento restaurant in the port.
“It will be an excellent showcase of local gastronomy,” explained the mayor, Noelia Arroyo. “The importance of this type of event is that it enhances our gastronomic appeal for visitors, since we have proven that it is the second attraction for which they come to visit us,” said the director general of the Murcia Region Tourism Institute ( ITREM), Juan Francisco Martinez.
The gastronomic exhibition, which had its first edition in June 2019 with great success, returns with more force and more support after the parenthesis of the restrictions due to the pandemic. They are sponsored by the City Council of Cartagena, the Tourism Institute of the Region of Murcia, Estrella de Levante and Grupo Huertas. The Port Authority of Cartagena, José Díaz Hotel Equipment and ZAMBÚ Innovation & Hygiene collaborate.
The tapas street stands out in the event, where Estrella de Levante will supply its best beers. The Sierra Norte and Vinos y Cavas Maset wineries will also allow you to taste good wines
In the kitchen section you can have specialties served by establishments such as Timber; Chef Momo and La Sella, specialists in vegetarian cuisine; La Tagliatella, Corte y Jamón, Collado’s Beach, Yummiko by Kokoro, Antonio’s Restaurant, by Los Nietos, and Fizz Gastro&bar. As far as sweets are concerned, there will be the Balbino López pastry shop and the Bico de Xeado ice cream. Asian Shop will provide the coffees and Al Borak afternoon&night club, the drinks.
The ‘showcooking’ will begin with Sergio de la Orden, from El Mosqui Restaurant, who will serve cauldron and present his new menu on Friday. On Saturday it will be the turn for the smallest of the house, who will not be able to resist the preparations of Guillem, winner in the latest edition of the popular Marterchef cooking contest. María Gómez, from Magoga, a Michelin star, will also present her latest creations. Sunday will be the great end of the party, with the chef with two stars from the French guide: Pablo Gónzalez Conejero, from La Cabaña Buenavista, and chef Quim Gabarró.
The opening hours are from 12 noon to 12 at night, both on Friday 3 and Saturday 4. To liven up the evenings there will be music by DJ Daniel Vidal. On Sunday, the event will start at noon as well and will continue until mid-afternoon.
