Shortly after the official announcement of PS5 Pro the one has also arrived video with the first test official announcement of the new Sony console, which was tested exclusively by CNET magazine through some demos of the games improved in Enhanced version or “Pro mode”.
You can see CNET’s exclusive hands-on video of the PS5 Pro below, and it’s interesting both because it shows the console live in a first-look video, and because it also shows something of the games that work on the new consolealthough it can be difficult to tell the exact differences through YouTube compression.
It should be noted that the same room where the tests took place was equipped with screens placed in parallel in order to more clearly show the differences with the standard PS5, which makes it quite clear that the technical upgrades, for the moment, are not exactly evident at first glance.
Specific improvements for some games
In any case, the improvements there are, and apparently they also vary from one game to another, given that in addition to the shared standard of 4K at 60 fps (also achieved through the proprietary PSSR upscale system), in certain cases it is possible to achieve even higher results.
CNET reporter mentions a 8K mode for Gran Turismo 7 for example, although this is not explored in depth here, while it seems that other titles could offer high resolutions at 120 fps, or improvements to other aspects of the graphics.
The improvements planned for the PS5 Pro versions may therefore change depending on the title, ranging from a more detailed application of ray tracing (such as the lighting in Horizon Forbidden West or the reflections in Gran Turismo 7) to other specific upgrades.
At Sony’s specific request, the video does not yet show gameplay videos taken from PS5 Pro directly, limiting itself to some off-screen sections, but this first test particularly highlights the curiosity in the application of some technological solutions that are emerging and are not yet widely available even on PC, such as a more integrated use of the raytracing and the AI upscaling system that Sony has trademarked as PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution.
