Prince Harry, the youngest son of King Charles III, will finally be able to wear a military uniform during the vigil that will be carried out on Saturday, September 17, by the grandchildren of Elizabeth II before her coffin
At first it had been indicated from Buckingham Palace that Harry could only wear a day suit in the events prior to his grandmother’s funeral, during the official days of mourning, despite the fact that the Duke of Sussex spent 10 years in the Armyincluding two stints serving missions in Afghanistan’s Helmand province in 2008.

Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, they left their duties as full-time members of the monarchy in January 2020 to move to the United States, where they reside with their children, Archie and Lilibet.
However, as revealed by the British tabloid The Sun, citing official sources, Henry will finally be able to wear his military uniform at the vigil to be held by the sovereign’s eight grandchildren, such as the Prince of Wales, and his cousins Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall.
An exception has also been made for the Duke of York, Prince Andrewson of the queen, who will also be allowed to wear his military uniform as a “special sign of respect” in another vigil that the sovereign’s children will celebrate this afternoon, as confirmed this week by Buckingham Palace.
The scandal of Andrew, Duke of Edinburgh
Andrew, the second son of Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh, had to abandon his public activities as a member of royalty after having been involved in the scandal of sexual abuse of minors of the late American pedophile Jeffrey Epstein and after reaching an out-of-court settlement with a woman who accused him of having abused her when she was a minor.
Last January, the queen stripped him of all his honorary military posts, including that of colonel of the Grenadier Guards, and he also had to renounce his title of Royal Highness. The brother of King Carlos III, who was an officer in the Royal Marine Forces and fought in the Falklands War, retains, however, his position as Vice Admiral.
