British Prince Andrew has once again denied allegations of sexual harassment and asked a US court to dismiss Virginia Giuffre’s civil lawsuit, which accuses him of rape. It is reported by Reuters…
In a statement, the 61-year-old son of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain called the “unfounded” lawsuit an attempt by the woman to “get another compensation.” The monarch’s lawyers recalled that the woman had already filed a similar lawsuit in 2015 along with two other victims against the financier Jeffrey Epstein and his girlfriend Gilaine Maxwell. It also mentioned Prince Andrew. In their opinion, then Giuffre “allegedly received millions of dollars.”
In addition, Prince Andrew announced that he was exonerated in accordance with the 2009 settlement agreement between Giuffre and financier Jeffrey Epstein. According to him, the billionaire himself insisted that the agreement covers “any person” against whom Giuffre can sue.
In turn, the American lawyers perceived this statement as an attempt to avoid responsibility. The next hearing on this case is scheduled for November 3.
38-year-old American human rights activist Viginia Giuffre said that in 2001, when she was 17, the Duke of York, who was friends with Jeffrey Epstein, was among several men with whom she was forced to have sex. She sued him in Federal Court of Manhattan and seeks compensation. The son of Elizabeth II himself denies his connection with the victim and claims that he does not remember her, despite the presence of joint photographs in Epstein’s house. Buckingham Palace also stated that the Duke of York had no sexual contact or relationship with Giuffre, and any claims to the contrary are false and unfounded.
Jeffrey Epstein committed suicide at the age of 66 in a Manhattan prison in August 2019. He was charged with trafficking in minors for the purpose of sexual exploitation.
