Marin will attend the European Council meeting starting in Brussels on Thursday.
Prime minister Sanna Marinin (sd) met with the Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau on Wednesday night in Brussels.
The Prime Minister’s meeting discussed Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the coordination of Ukraine’s aid efforts. At the end of the meeting, Marin also discussed the discussion between NATO and the Nordic countries.
“I inquired about Canada’s views on the debate that is taking place in the Nordic countries and told about the process that is going on in Finland. This is of great interest to the world, ”Marin said after the meeting.
According to Marini, Trudeau reiterated NATO’s message that an open door policy exists.
“Finland and Sweden are welcome if we decide to apply for membership.”

Trudeau called for a debate on anti-Russian action.
“Sanctions have begun to bite, but we need to rethink the whole security concept.”
The meeting celebrated the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Finland and Canada this year.
