For years now, Primark is committed to inclusion in its clothingfrom sizes that we can rarely find in typical ‘low cost’ stores to thinking about women who are going through menopause and need fabrics and designs more in line with their needs.
However, the Irish firm wanted to go one step further and has presented its first line for men and women of adaptive clothing, with some of the basics based on the brand’s best-selling garments, such as trench coats and T-shirts or sweaters and jeans, all of them with features designed according to the needs of the people with disabilities or who suffer from a temporary disability.
Behind it is Victoria Jenkinsa British designer known in the sector for adapting clothing to people with disabilities or medical needs with her brand Unhidden to break the barriers of traditional fashion, creating elegant, functional and comfortable looks for these people who are often forgotten by the industry.
Primark’s most inclusive collection arrives
After having trouble finding clothes to wear that were compatible with her health problems, Jenkins set out to create a brand where everyone would be represented, with functional and comfortable garments that do not give up style.

The adaptation elements of the collection are designed so that getting dressed is easierfrom magnetic zippers and snap closures to waist loops that help pull up pants and invisible openings for access to tubes, stomas or catheters. There are also various options for people who are sitting in a wheelchair. Created to reflect a wide range of needs, the collection was designed through a series of discussion groups and practical adaptation sessions with members of the disability community.
Victoria Jenkins, adaptive fashion designer and founder of Unhidden, commented that “it is a great pride to see this collection underway and how it adaptive fashion hits stores on this scale for the first time. People with disabilities face many obstacles in their lives and clothing should not be one of them. We don’t want to live in a uniform of sweatpants and T-shirts, but often we don’t have a choice. I hope that this launch represents a step forward in changing that trend, bringing more options. We have created garments that are not only functional, but also fashionable and affordablebecause everyone deserves to feel confident and stylish in what they wear. I hope this inspires the sector to continue moving towards greater accessibility and inclusion for all.”

The collection, composed of 49 pieces that will arrive in Spanish stores on January 28includes basic garments for women and men, as well as sleepwear and underwear, including trench coats, V-neck knit sweaters, oxford shirts, and straight-leg jeans in both regular and seated styles.
On the other hand, we also find other adapted garments such as shirts with press studs, pockets with access for tubes, magnetic zippers or adjustable hems with snaps. The prices of the collection range from range from €45 for the raincoat to €12 for the underwear.
