President Niinistö’s trip to the United States will last the whole of next week.
President Sauli Niinistö will travel to the United States next week, where he will lead the Finnish delegation at the opening week of the UN General Assembly in New York.
Niinistö’s trip lasts from Monday to Sunday. He will also visit Washington during the trip, says the president’s office.
On Tuesday, Niinistö will give Finland’s national speech at the opening of the general assembly. In addition to Niinistö, the Finnish General Assembly delegation includes the Minister of Foreign Affairs Pekka Haavisto (green), Minister of Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Ville Skinnari (sd) and the Minister of Education Lee Andersson (left).
President also participates in the high-level event of the Christchurch Appeal against Terrorism and Extremism, convened by the President of France Emmanuel Macron and Prime Minister of New Zealand Jacinda Ardern.
In addition, Niinistö will give a video speech at an event preparing for the UN Biodiversity Conference.
On Wednesday, Niinistö will participate in the meeting of the group of friends of the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty, and the program also includes bilateral meetings in New York. Thursday’s program includes several bilateral meetings in Washington.
