Presa Diretta: previews and reports of the episode, tonight 29 September 2024 on Rai 3
This evening, Sunday 29 September 2024, Presa Diretta will be broadcast in prime time, the new edition of the journalistic investigative program broadcast on Rai 3 and hosted by Riccardo Iacona. Many topics will also be covered in this episode, starting at 9.20 pm. Below are the previews and reports of the new episode of Presa Diretta, broadcast on Sunday 29 September 2024 at 9.20 pm on Rai 3.
In the first part of the evening (until around 9.25pm) “Aspettindo PresaDiretta” tells the story of the world of discos between drugs, alcohol, dramatic calls to 118 and rescue activities by health workers. What are the consequences of these abuses? A journey between beaches, discos, medical facilities, emergency rooms and police stations. To discuss these issues in the studio, the child neuropsychiatrist of the Neuroscience and mental health department of the Policlinico Umberto I in Rome Arianna Terrinoni and the psychoanalyst and author of the book “The age of high” Laura Pigozzi.
Followed by the “Biological Age” investigation. In recent decades, oncological diseases among young adults have increased throughout the world. “PresaDiretta” crossed Italy, from north to south, entering oncology departments, collecting stories of patients, doctors and researchers. According to scholars, the causes could also include ultra-processed foods and pollutants, risk factors and lifestyles. What determines our biological age?
In the last 10 years alone, the Humanitas hospital in Milan has treated 500 patients under 50 with a diagnosis of colorectal cancer. They call them “early onset tumors,” which are often even more malignant. And it is certainly not the only oncological pathology on the rise among 30-40 year olds. The researchers’ suspicions focus – among other things – on ultra-processed foods, environmental pollutants, microplastics.
Reportage in the Oncology departments of the major Italian hospitals, from Niguarda in Milan, to Pascale in Naples, from Orbassano (Turin) to Siena, up to the laboratories of the IFOM (Institute of Molecular Oncology) of the Airc in Milan. And in the United States, for example at the Harvard Medical School in Boston or at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, a hospital founded in the 1950s by the “father of modern chemotherapy” where the so-called “intelligent chemotherapy” is now being tested and used against breast cancer metastatic. And then the frontiers of treatments: the “PresaDiretta” cameras entered exclusively into the plant of the biotechnology company Moderna in Norwood, near Boston, where personalized messenger RNA vaccines are produced, the same technology used against Covid. Experimental vaccines tailored to the individual patient against melanoma.
However, oncology treatments are expensive, especially innovative drugs. In the United States, the kingdom of the private healthcare system, 100 million Americans have healthcare debt, 40% of the adult population, so much so that a specific expression has been coined: “financial toxicity”. And in Italy? The expenses are guaranteed by the National Health System, but oncology weighs more and more on the healthcare budget.
Risk factors and lifestyles. In Europe every day four industries kill 7,400 people, almost 2 million a year: tobacco, alcohol, ultra-processed food and oil. Consumption increases and company profits increase. But there are those who focus on prevention, such as the Emilia Romagna regional plan with health gyms and lessons on correct nutrition in schools. Presa Diretta awaits you this evening, Sunday 29 September 2024, in prime time from 9.20 pm on Rai 3.
