This Sunday the largest elections in the history of Mexico will be held, with an estimated participation of around 98 million voters. On this historic day, approximately 20 thousand public positions will be renewed throughout the country.
In the state of Veracruz, voters decide on 51 crucial political positions, among which are:
- a governorship
- 30 relative majority deputations
- 20 proportional representation deputations
- Candidates for the governorship of Veracruz
Three main contenders aspire to the governorship of the state, supported by different political forces:
- José Francisco Yunes Zorrilla – Candidate of the “Fuerza y Corazón por Veracruz” coalition, made up of the PRI, PAN and PRD.
- Norma Rocío Nahle García – Representative of the coalition of Morena, PVEM and PT.
- Hipólito Deschamps Espino Barros – Standard bearer of the Citizen Movement party.
PREP Results
The Preliminary Electoral Results Program (PREP), responsible for capturing and publishing the data from the scrutiny and counting records, has begun to offer the first results of this election day.
Until 9:00 a.m., the Preliminary Election Results Program (PREP) 2024 in Veracruz has counted 40,724 votes, tipping the balance in favor of the candidate Norma Rocío Nahle García. Nahle García has 25,214 votes, which corresponds to 61.9% of the total.
In second place is Francisco Yunes, representative of the PRI, PAN, PRD coalition, with 29.6% of the votes, accumulating 12,090 votes. For his part, Hipólito Deschamps Espino Barros, Citizen Movement candidate, obtained 2,440 votes, representing 5.99% of the total.
The preliminary trend shows a significant advantage for Nahle García in this first phase of the count.
