Nikola Hagleitner has been running the traditional business of Deutsche Post since July. The Christmas season becomes their baptism of fire. She can also imagine a surcharge for faster letter delivery.

An the coming weekend, a parcel center is on the agenda for Nikola Hagleitner. This time it’s off to Aschheim near Munich, where Deutsche Post operates one of its largest sorting facilities. The Christmas business is heading towards its peak, and around Black Friday there were already peak days on which the group had to dispatch more than 10 million shipments. Not much can go wrong there. Technology and personnel are working on the attack, even several thousand administrative employees are volunteering to help out on a daily basis.

For Nikola Hagleitner, the Advent weeks will be the next big test. Since the beginning of July she has been responsible for letters and parcels on the postal board – and is already in trouble because an unusually large number of customers are complaining about unpunctual letters. That’s another reason why she wants to get her own picture of how things are going “on the ground”. Listening, she says about herself, is one of her strengths, “I’m good at talking to our colleagues on site”.
