Fascinating and mysterious.: excellent ending!
The latest title of Devolver Direct 2024 and the last game ever to appear in the very long marathon that began with Summer Game Fest: the curtain on this long gaming night has closed Possessor(s)the new and eagerly awaited title from Heart Machine which had been discussed in recent days.
The authors of the fantastic Hyper Light Drifter, the fascinating Solar Ash and the promising Hyper Light Breaker wanted to offer a completely new experience for their players, pursuing 2D side-scrolling gameplay for the first time and using very distant graphics from pixels, drawn by hand instead.
This is the synopsis taken from the Steam page:
“Possessor(s) is a fast-paced action scroller with fighting platformer-inspired combat, featuring a story told through dangerous characters set in a deeply interconnected world ripe for exploration.
Play as Luca, the host, and Rehm, his less-than-cooperative counterpart, and explore with them an isolated city torn to pieces by an interdimensional catastrophe. Their only hope for survival is to learn to coexist.”
At the end of the article we can observe the reveal trailer just shown (and which you can find at the end of the article), which revealed a gameplay focused on platform mechanics and combat in which we will have to chain together combos and aerial acrobatics. There will be no shortage of upgrades to exploit to build useful builds to face the fearsome bosses that await us.
