Fulfill the wishes and meet the needs of those who alone could not normally meet their own needs. Porsche confirms itself as a company attentive to the world of solidarity thanks to a donation of 200,000 euros to the Make-A-Wish association, active internationally. The donation was made as part of the initiative Porsche Virtual Run. From September 17 to October 3 last year, 2,300 Porsche employees around the world laced their running shoes for this noble cause.
Make-A-Wish has so far recorded more than 30 moments of happiness thanks to donations from Porsche, with a series of touching profiles. “The photos showing the many radiant faces are touching. We gladly ran that famous ‘extra mile’ for it. We hope that the joy these young people have felt will have a lasting effect and give them further strength in the fight against their diseases “, told Oliver Blume, chairman of the board of directors of Porsche. In the coming weeks, the dreams of more young people will come true. Sixteen-year-old Fasil, who suffers from muscular dystrophy, has already granted his wish, managing to access the Porsche Development Center in Weissach, a real privilege. The boy was thus able to visit the motorsport department and even take part in the first test lap of a new racing car. He joined in expert discussions with the project managers and was allowed to watch a Porsche factory driver at work in the racing simulator.
The wishes on the long list are as varied as the personal stories behind them and it is even more gratifying that in the meantime the dreams of over 30 children, teens and young adults have come true. For example, for Afeef (13 years) from Singapore, who spent four days exploring Sentosa Island’s many attractions, or Jenny (18) from Germany, who enjoyed a weekend with her boyfriend, staying in a beautiful hotel and shopping. Aida (11) from Italy he now owns a bicycle “which can carry a person in a wheelchair”, while Albert (6), from England, met Santa Claus in Lapland. Fourteen-year-old Zachary from France now knows what he’s like behind the scenes at his favorite zoo, while eight-year-old Hong Kong-based Yesol still looks back fondly on an eventful day at a campground with his family. Donna (eight) from Spain is also overjoyed: with the help of the specially founded Make-A-Wish Spain modeling school, she now has the tools she needs to one day conquer the catwalks of the world.
