Popular TV presenter Elena Hanga said that Moscow has recently become more and more like Chinese Shanghai. In conversation with “Moskvich Mag” the TV star told what she would like to change in the city.
“I don’t like the fact that Chinese joys are hung in my beloved and dear Stoleshnikov: lanterns, something shiny on top. Shanghai – everything is on fire! You walk past the Nemirovich-Danchenko Theater along Bolshaya Dmitrovka, and – what is it from above? When they hung up the decorations once on New Year’s Eve, I thought: let’s say! Wild, but let’s say. But they left, and now it hangs from year to year. It hangs, shimmers and so spoils the street, ”she explained.
Hanga stressed that the authorities are doing everything to keep old houses in excellent condition, but decorations that are placed on the capital’s streets can often “vulgarize” them. In her opinion, instead of “Shanghai lanterns” it is better to install cast-iron lanterns that will remind of old Moscow on Christmas Eve. As an example, she cited the American district of Little China, where Chinese lanterns look organic, and people go there specially because they want to buy cheap tinsel as a souvenir. “And in New York I really like it. But we don’t have a small China in the center of Moscow. Maybe there are other, more suitable areas – so let’s do it there, ”summed up the TV presenter.
