In three more months, Topolobampo will be directly connected, by sea, with Puerto Escondido, Baja California Sur, when the ferry that will make this journey is put into service, which will increase commercial and commercial relations between the continental massif and the territory. POLL TO PROSECUTE NIXON. Washington. Representative Peter Rodino launched the first survey in more than a century to determine whether there are grounds for impeaching President Richard Nixon. There is the solemn promise of the judicial commission of the Lower House of Congress, in charge of the procedure, to face the task in accordance with its high constitutional responsibility. At the beginning of the investigative ceremony on the possibility of impeaching Nixon, broadcast on television, Rodino and Edmundo Hutchinson, a prominent Republican politician, made brief statements. The commission then began four-day reserved sessions to consider the evidence gathered so far. Several Liberal Democrats tried to have all commission meetings open to the public, but their motion was defeated by 31 votes to six. “I do not need to emphasize once again the importance of our mission and the wisdom, decency and principle with which we must fulfill it,” said Rodino, who chairs the Judicial Commission. The inaugural session of the survey was attended by Nixon’s main lawyer in the Watergate case, James St.Clair, who, at the insistence of the Republican members of the commission, has the power to be present at the sessions and present witnesses. “I predict that Nixon will not be put on trial,” St.Clair said.

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY. The traditional Mother’s Day is commemorated, a date on which all Mexicans, without distinction of social origin, pay tribute to their selfless mothers. Since last weekend, most commercial establishments seem full of customers who come to buy a gift, whether ostentatious or humble, with which to show gratitude for the care and attention received. It is not necessary to give luxurious and expensive gifts to show love, but it is not enough to recognize them on just one day of the year.
NATO LAUNCHES NEW ATTACKS. Belgrade. Undaunted by the outrage caused by the accidental bombing of the Chinese Embassy in Belgrade, NATO attacked new Yugoslav Army positions in Kosovo. The alliance dropped clusters of bombs on a village causing serious damage and forcing columns of Kosovar Albanians to flee. NATO leaders apologized again for the bombing of the embassy, but assured that the attacks will continue until Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic accepts his conditions for Kosovo.
