There it is, the new BMW X1 from the police!
The police still mainly drive around in MPVs, but that is of course outdated. To make a small impression you need a crossover. Last week the police put the first Kugas into use, but they also have a real premium crossover in mind. The BMW X1 has arrived.
We secretly already knew that, because our attentive editor-in-chief had already spotted this car yesterday. However, now we also have news from BMW itself. On LinkedIn, a proud CEO of BMW Netherlands poses next to the X1 in police gear.
The cars will not officially be put into use until next year, but a trial period is starting now. The promise that the police will purchase Kugas and X1s (approximately 1,100 in total) is still subject to change. First we have to see how the Kuga and the BMW X1 work out in practice as a police car.
You are of course very curious about which version the police have chosen. The X1 is available in nine variants (and we're not even counting the electric iX1), so there's plenty to choose from. Unfortunately, we still haven't gotten a definitive answer on this. The car that was spotted yesterday also had no identification plate.
You won't see much of the police's new BMW X1 for a while. There are only three test models that the police will test. If these are popular, we will only see the police X1 appear on the roads in large numbers from January 2025.
