Polestar will preview its first SUV, the Polestar 3, as part of a launch event on October 12, 2022 in Copenhagen, Denmark. The car, which promises good performance, will give precedence to design and driving dynamics. Built on the basis of new all-electric technology developed and shared with Volvo, will have NVIDIA’s centralized core computing as an interesting element and a long list of safety systems prepared by Zenseact, Luminar, Smart Eye and Volvo itself.
At launch, all versions will be equipped with a propulsion system with double motor with rear polarization and vectorization of the electric couple by means of a double clutch system on the rear electric motor. This equipment is made possible by the presence of adaptive double-chamber air suspension and active shock absorbers as standard, which allow the Polestar 3 to vary the dynamics of the suspension from soft to rigid, and to adjust the shock absorbers according to road conditions every two. milliseconds (500 Hz).
The optional Performance package will offer a maximum output of 380 kW and 910 Nm, plus Polestar Engineered chassis tuning for active shock absorbers and air suspension. Polestar’s signature ‘Swedish Gold’ details will also be added, including valve caps, seat belts and a laser-engraved interior light band. In short, it could fit well in a market segment populated by major German opponents.
“We had to ask ourselves what a modern SUV should look like. The Polestar 3 embodies the SUV of the electric age and, in designing it, we took care of some of the fundamental aspects of the archetype, namely the proportions, the set-up and the aerodynamics. The car also benefits from a low center of gravity and a wide track thus ensuring maximum stability and an exciting feeling behind the wheel.Said Thomas Ingenlath, chief executive of Polestar.
