Can and Commitmentsin principle separately, will promote investigation commissions in the Congress of Deputies to clarify political responsibilities in the DANA tragedy. This is what they have announced Agueda Micóspokesperson for the Valencians in the Lower House, and Javier Sánchez Sernaspokesperson for Podemos.
Micó, the first to announce it this Thursday morning, explained that her party wants to take the Government of Carlos Mazón to the Lower House to give explanations of the previous moments of the cold drop. The Compromís spokesperson has left no room for doubt about the position of her party in that the president of the Valencian Generalitat is the person most responsible for the catastrophe.
However, in addition to summoning Mazón and his team, Micó has expanded the scope of action of the investigative commission to the competent ministers of the central governmentespecially to account for both the moments after the flood and the tasks of reconstruction of the 69 affected towns in the community.
For its part, Can He also wants to seat members of both governments on his investigation commission. As for the one chaired by Pedro Sánchez, the purple ones are mainly interested in clarifying “why the state of alarm was not declared“.
Podemos sources explain that their idea is to present their investigative commission separately and clarify that they are in talks with other parliamentary groups – especially, Republican Left and EH Bildu– to see the commission registered with them. In any case, they are not closed to talking to Compromís as well.
The Valencians have already promoted a commission of investigation in the Valencian parliament to debug responsibilities in the Government, but they believe that it is fair for the citizens that also in the General Courts the case is investigated. Sources from the party led by Micó in Congress and which is part of Sumar’s parliamentary group, confirm that they have the support of those of Yolanda Diaz and that they will sit with other groups of the investiture block – also with the PSOE― to jointly present the commission.
