As we have already reported, Nintendo has recently started a PocketPair Lawsuitclearly linked to Palworldthe game that at the beginning of the year amazed the entire world by accumulating an exorbitant number of sales and becoming the second most played game on Steam (now third, beaten by Black Myth: Wukong).
Known as the “Pokémon with guns” due to the similarity of certain creatures to Game Freak’s monsters, Palworld has continued for several months without being touched by any real accusations. Now, however, things are changing. The team has therefore had its say through Twitter.
PocketPair’s words
The authors of Palworld wrote, in translation: “Yesterday a lawsuit was filed lawsuit against our company for patent infringement. We have received notice of this lawsuit and will begin the appropriate legal proceedings and investigation into the patent infringement allegations. We are not aware of the specific patents we are accused of infringing at this time and have not been provided with such details.”
“PocketPair is a small indie game company based in Tokyo. Our goal as a company has always been to create fun games. We will continue to pursue this goal because we know that our games bring joy to millions of players around the world. Palworld has been a surprising success this year, both for players and for us. We have been amazed by the incredible response to the game and have worked hard to make it even better for our fans. We will continue to improve Palworld and strive to create a game that our fans can be proud of.”
“It is truly unfortunate that we will be forced to devote a lot of time to non-development related issues of the game due to this lawsuit. However, we will do our best for our fans and to ensure that indie game developers are not hindered or discouraged from pursuing their creative ideas.”
“We apologize to our fans and supporters for any concerns or inconvenience this news may cause. As always, we thank you for your continued support of Palworld and PocketPair.”
