Apparently we are still in the running for a possible Sony event, a PlayStation Showcase or a State of Play, for the month of May, with a new one more precise date which has emerged in recent hours from a leaker: the May 28, 2024.
To report the thing is Nick “Shpeshal Nick” Bakerco-founder of XboxEra and leaker with a CV that we could define as “mixed”, as his reliability is definitely not infallible, but he has nevertheless gotten something right in the past, making him quite well known in the sector.
“I’m hearing rumors that the PlayStation show (not sure yet how it is defined) should be around the 28th (or something like that, also based on the different time zones)”, we read in the new message from Shpeshal Nick on X.
What type of event?
The question would still be in line with previous rumors, which wanted a PlayStation Showcase in May 2024, even if time is running out at this point and a official announcement from Sony should arrive shortly, if it really is these days.
It is true that Sony has accustomed us to warnings now minimal between the announcement and the staging of the presentations, therefore it is still definitely possible that a PlayStation event is expected by May, giving reason to the various leakers who seemed convinced of the matter, starting with the well-known Jeff Grubb.
Then there was also the announcement of a conference in which Sony would reveal its cards, this time coming from the company itself during its recent meeting on the occasion of the publication of the financial data, but this presentation seems to be something different from a PlayStation Showcase.
In fact, an event entitled “Beyond the boundaries” has been announced, set for May 23rd, which should reveal Sony’s future strategy, but which seems to be focused above all on financial and managerial issues, from which however very interesting information could still emerge also for regarding PlayStation.
At this point we await any official communications from Sony, which could arrive shortly.
