May is almost over and that means many things. Sony hasn’t announced the rumored new event yet, the non-E3 Summer Game Fest is getting closer and, above all, it’s almost time to find out what the games “free” of June for subscribers of PlayStation Plus Essential on PS4 and PS5.
As always, the games will be announced on the last Wednesday of the month: this means Sony Interactive Entertainment will indicate next month’s list of titles on May 29th. Obviously it is always possible that we will discover the June titles in advance thanks to the leaks.
As regards availability, PlayStation Plus Essential games for PS4 and PS5 they will be accessible starting from the first Tuesday of the month, i.e. June 4th. From that moment we will have approximately 30 days to claim the games.
We remind you that the titles included in PS Plus Essential – i.e. the lowest level of Sony subscriptions – they remain available for one month, but once claimed they remain tied to your account forever: as long as you are a subscriber, you can download and start them. If you cancel your subscription, you can no longer use them, but if you then subscribe again you will find them all at your disposal.
PS Plus Essential games for May
Before thinking about June games, however, it’s a good idea to make sure you’ve claimed May’s PlayStation Plus Essential games. This month’s headlines are:
- EA Sports FC 24
- Ghostrunner 2
- Tunic
- Destiny 2: The Eclipse
This month there is a bit of everything for everyone, as we find a couple of high-level AAA games such as EA Sports FC 24 and Destiny 2 The Eclipse, which are capable of keeping fans of the genre playing for dozens and dozens of hours. If you prefer something dynamic but more contained, you can try the action platformer Ghostrunner 2. Indie fans, however, should absolutely not ignore Tunic: it is a Zelda-like based completely on exploration and the wonder of discovery.
