PlayStation announced yesterday theacquisition Of Haven Studiosthe team founded by Jade Raymond along with some colleagues, and Hermen Hulst spoke to GamesIndustry about the reasons behind this operation.
“We could have continued to have them as an external development partner, that’s right,” Hulst said in the same interview in which he described the exciting live services for Sony. “However what Haven created is so interesting to us that there was this strong desire to deepen this relationship. We were impressed with what the team is doing. “
“It will get easier for us invest in his studio and his games in this way. It is a testament to the fact that we have been truly impressed with the progress Haven Studios has made so far. ”
“They are far outstripping the expectations also in terms of timing, which is very rare in the world of game development. So we thought we’d work harder and do things right. “
“We want the team to be proudly autonomous creatively, I know from experience that this type of approach produces the best results. We want the culture of study, based on positive relationships between people, to be carried forward. “
“We are here to lend our support and have built a strong organization to do so. This acquisition should take nothing away from Haven Studios, quite the opposite – we will free them from distractions so they can maximize their creative independence.”
