The yesterday’s sensational Xbox Showcase it has not gone unnoticed in other people’s homes, so much so that one of the effects it has produced is the loud request of some PlayStation fans to Sony to respond with live streams of the same level.
Summer live streams have effectively replaced E3 conferences, an event that is now dead and buried. Last year Sony organized a PlayStation Showcase, but this year it was limited to one State of Play, certainly easier to organize, but with less impact than a larger event. After all, if the games to be presented aren’t there, they certainly can’t be invented, but the fans craved something more, with the enormous Xbox Showcase which somehow sparked discontent.
The words of the fans
“Hope you saw the Showcase,” one fan wrote. “This is what we want.” Another added: “Give us such a beautiful showcase.” Yet another simply said: “Learn from the Xbox Showcase, Sony.”
In the era of the dominance of social communication, certain gut reactions are not surprising, but there is no doubt that many expect more from the dominant platform of the traditional market. That said, there was no shortage of news during the State of Play, such as Concord’s gameplay and the announcement of the new Astro Bot, both close to release. However, some have wondered why exclude from the State of Play LEGO Horizon Adventuresconsidering that it is part of one of PlayStation’s strongest intellectual properties, despite being a multiplatform game.
Microsoft hit the jackpot, returning to show already announced and highly anticipated games, such as Avowed, Fable, Perfect Dark, State of Decay 3 and others, and presenting various new features such as the new DOOM and Gears of War: E-Day.
