The PlayStation 5, Sony’s flagship console, does not seem to know peace from the moment of its release, between sold out and fluctuating price. In Italy, the platform is almost unobtainableand the few pieces that, from time to time, become available again last less than 5 minutes on the market.
The price of the PlayStation 5 has recently reached a new high at Buenos Aires airport. As revealed in a post on Twitter, grabbing a Sony next-gen console in the duty free shops at the airport is “simple”. The pieces, in fact, are not lacking. Indeed, a certain one is reported abundance of platforms, waiting to be sold on the shelves.
However, these units have a flaw: the price. PlayStation 5s are sold at a cost much higher compared to the $ 499 list price. Apparently, the re-selling has also hit brick-and-mortar stores. The availability of consoles seems to be due to a purchase that Argentine stores have made from third parties, paying for each piece at a higher price than the list price.
For this reason, a PlayStation 5 bought at the Buenos Aires airport can touch the 1700 dollars (we are talking about the classic version and not the Digital Edition). This is a disproportionate amount, over 1200 dollars higher than the basic one, which, moreover, is imposed in a duty free place, exempt from paying taxes.

The comedian Adam Conover has published, on its official Twitter profile, the image of the shelves of a shop at the aforementioned airport. You see several boxes of PlayStation 5 intact and ready to go, but the price tag is frighteningly high: $ 1699. It almost seems to be faced with a mockery, but the price is just that.
While Brazil was the first country to impose a cut on the cost of the PlayStation 5 and the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition, and in Italy the console seems impossible to find, in Argentina to own it you have to pay as much gold as it weighs. This is a situation that prevents many players from being able to enjoy Sony’s next-gen console, and it is hoped that we will soon be able to stem the problems surrounding purchasing it in various countries around the world.
