PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Digital Edition are nowhere to be found in Italybut they received a discount in Brazilfor reasons related to the new legislation of Brazilian Federal Government applied on taxes for the import of non-essential technological goods from other markets.
The news of the price cut was released last August, but many are interested in it in these hours. It was the first official cut of the prices of the next-gen console, sought after all over the world, and which could be the head of a trail of cuts ready to “adjust” the price in Europe as well. However, this has not yet happened. In Italy the cost has not only remained unchanged, but the coveted next-gen platform is, for many, just one mirage.
The Sony console in both versions is in fact very difficult to find, and the few pieces available run out sold out in minutes. This collides with the situation in Brazil, where the price has even been cut. Representatives of the American subdivision of Sony Interactive Entertainment have made official the new price of consoles and individual accessories for a few months and, since then, it has not changed.
The news was shared on the PS Blog, specifying that the cost of both PS5 and related peripherals is linked precisely to the legislation applied by the government on taxes for imported goods. The standard version of PlayStation 5 can currently be purchased at a discount in Brazil at the cost of 4399.90 Real (around € 709 at the current exchange rate), while the Digital version of PS5 is around 3899.90 Real (approximately € 628 at the current exchange rate).
As a result of this cut in the price of the PS5, the PlayStation 4 also suffered a decrease over the course, coming to cost 2599.90 Real (around € 419). A glimmer of light in the purchase of Sony’s next-gen consoles can be seen, from time to time, in Europe, but in Italy they are always unavailable.
