Learn English and knowing how to speak and “defend yourself” when you are in an English-speaking country is the handicap of many people. However, it is a possible challenge. What’s more, you can learn it in 20 days. It is the objective with which the company was born PlanBrain in Zaragoza and which, now, is preparing to make its national and international leap due to the influx of people from different countries who need to learn English to its courses.
Within Spain, PlanBrain is going to begin its expansion through Madrid and Barcelonacities from which a significant number of attendees have registered for their courses. Furthermore, at the international level, the goal is to start as early as 2025 in USA because “there are many people of Hispanic origin who need to learn English to work or for their social relationships. I receive many requests,” says Ismael Longás, creator of the method and PlanBrain, to theEconomist
Around 200 people have already taken their small group courses, which can be done in person or online but live attending the class, coming from different geographical areas such as the United States, Mexico, Andalusia, Barcelona, Belgium, Brazil, Elche or Tarazona, among others.
The PlanBrain method is specially designed for people who have no knowledge or a low level of English, and can achieve a B1 level from the University of Cambridge in most cases in just 20 days. “Some students have reached a B2 level,” he adds.
The system used differs from conventional English classes. It follows a accelerated learning technique“which is how the brain works.” The training, to which they are dedicated two hours a day Monday through Thursday, begins by empowering people to understand their mindset and foster creativity and engagement. Furthermore, “in the course no one knows who anyone is. There is no individual presentation to remove labels and prejudices about others” and also reduce the possible shyness or embarrassment that one may have when speaking.
Subsequently, the method focuses on learning vocabulary words by associations with the greatest possible emotional impact so that it is easier to remember and assimilate. The next phase is to review to accelerate the speed of word processing and focus on grammar. The end of the course focuses on the oral part for which expert English-speaking professionals are available. In addition, there is no shortage of recreational activities that even include dancing.
An idea arising from one’s own experience
PlanBrain was born from Ismael Longás’ own experience. “When I was little, I was bad at English. I couldn’t do the exchange in Baccalaureate because I didn’t get the grade.” And this led him not to give up and look for a system to learn languages, which he himself experimented with French and German. A process that has also required research about the mind and learning over years and develop specific techniques and methodswhich have come to life on PlanBrain. “It changed my chip.”
All of this led him to convert his idea and his system, which had worked for him and which he had also tested with his friends, into a business initiative through Zaragoza Activa. Now, based in La Terminal, in Zaragoza, the national and international expansion begins to teach courses beyond the Aragonese capital.
