This week began the payments of the PIS/Pasep salary bonus, referring to the base year 2020. The first to have the resources released were the private sector workers (who are entitled to PIS) born in January. For public servants, who receive the Pasep, payments will start on February 15th.
Beneficiaries can withdraw the money until December 29 (see full calendars below).

What is the difference between PIS and PASEP?
What is PIS and what is PASEP? Usually one acronym follows the other, and this raises some doubts. In fact, PASEP has the same purpose as PIS, but it is aimed at the public servant. In other words, instead of companies contributing, it is public bodies that do so.
Payment and withdrawal work in the same way as PIS, however, it is the responsibility of Banco do Brasil and not Caixa Econômica.
Who is entitled to PIS/PASEP?
Professionals who work with a formal contract in the private or public sector are entitled to the PIS/PASEP salary allowance. For this, it is necessary that:
- the worker has been enrolled in the Program for at least 5 years;
- worked at least 30 days in the base year (which this year is 2020);
- the average monthly salary is less than 2 minimum salaries, equivalent to R$ 2,420.88;
- the employer (company or public body) has correctly informed the employee’s data.
In addition, PIS quotas are intended for:
- retirees;
- over 60 years old;
- people with disability (participant or dependent);
- transferred to paid reserve or retirement (in the case of military personnel);
- elderly and/or people with a disability reached by the Continued Payment Benefit;
- people with Malignant neoplasm – Cancer – (participant or dependent);
- people with AIDS (participant or dependent);
- people with diseases listed in the Interministerial Ordinance MPAS/MS 2998/2001 (participant or dependent);
- in the event of the participant’s death (the account balance will be paid to the holder’s dependents or successors).
