Pirelli towards the next three F1 GPs
F1 goes on holiday for three consecutive Sundays, but the Pirelli is already projected towards the next three stages of the 2024 world championship. The Milanese manufacturer has in fact communicated the compounds that will be used in the US, Mexican and Brazilian GPs: rather aggressive choices, which will bring the softest tire in the range – called C5 and a great protagonist already in Monza, Baku and Singapore – to its absolute debut also on the Interlagos track.
Attacking choice in the Brazilian GP
In Sao Paulo, Brazil, Pirelli has in fact decided to bring the C5 Soft, C4 Medium and C3 Hard. A choice dictated by the fact that in the last edition of the Brazilian GP the harder tire (the C2 at the time) had been discarded for the race as it was deemed too uncompetitive compared to the softer compounds. The option of having one step softer tires on the track should therefore help to have one race with multiple strategic variables.
Austin and Mexico City as in 2023
However, the 2023 choices for Austin and Mexico City are confirmed. At the Circuit of the Americas, in Texas, there will be tires Hard C2, Medium C3 and Soft C4 for the first time since the weekend on the Belgian track of Spa-Francorchamps. The three softest compounds in the Pirelli range, the C3, C4 and C5 they will instead be protagonists on the Mexican track, which has always been characterized by very smooth asphalt and poor grip also caused by the fact that it runs at 2,200 meters above sea level and therefore in rarefied air.
