What happened?
According to the French media ‘Le Parisien’, the event occurred on July 27, 2018, when Nicolas Galy was hit at 4,000 m altitude by the plane’s wing from which he had jumped just a few seconds before with his wingsuit, which ended his life at that precise moment.

In court hearings in which the pilot was subpoenaed, he said he had not informed the eight skydivers and two wingsuits who were aboard what was his fourth jump flight that day. “Compared to skydivers who are in free fall, it is more complicated with those who go in a straight line, since they do not descend much and can come into conflict with the plane,” said the pilot in one of the hearings.
He also explained that it was not his fault, since he assumed that the parachutist had a planned course.

“It didn’t follow the expected course, it wasn’t my responsibility,” said the pilot. “I think my flight path made sense. This has been the tragedy of my life, but it’s not my fault“, the pilot stated again.
Nevertheless, flight license of the murderer was not valid at the time of the jump because he had violated restrictions imposed by an aviation authority in relation to a medical condition.
Therefore, the Midi-Pyrénées Skydiving Schools Association, which hired the pilot, was fined 20,000 euros, of which 10,000 were suspended, according to ‘Le Parisien’.
