“We always like to come back. And when we are here, we celebrate and enjoy it”, said Piero de Benedictis, the interpreter of “My old man”, a song that catapulted him worldwide, more than five decades ago.
Although he did not want to announce what songs he will sing on the William Luna show, the 77-year-old singer-songwriter confirmed that he will do a duet, for the first time, with the singer of “Niñachay.” In addition to Piero, guests will be Amanda Portales, Magaly Solier, Homero from Peru, Jessica Jaramillo from Colombia, André Silva, the ‘Old Rodriguez’ band, among other surprises. Despite his age, Piero does not feel tired and assures that he really likes the tours, no matter how long they are. He says that in Peru, a country he visited five years ago, he is not just another tourist. It feels like home here.
In addition to “My old man”, the theme that is most dedicated on Father’s Day; another of Piero’s hits is “Arriving, you arrived”, a beautiful melody that tells a beautiful love story. According to the Italian-born artist, said song belongs to the public and no longer to him.
“It is one of the most beautiful and tender songs, they have a magical touch, it seems like it was yesterday, it is in my memories, and I know that songs like these are not forgotten. Thank you Piero, you are very great, God bless you”, “At 41 years old I still listen to it. Nice song, since I have the use of reason I listen to it. These really are songs” and “What a beautiful song: ‘When you arrived, I got excited’. I dedicate it to a very loved little person”; These are just some of the comments from her followers.
Piero prefers not to compare the lyrics of his songs, loaded with sentimentality, with those of reggaeton. In addition, he assures that he cannot even finish listening to them because they seem “strange”. “Everyone has the right to do anything. Then it will be seen who gets to the corner first, ”he adds.
De Benedictis, who has social networks, but is not very active, assures that he does not want to follow in the footsteps of José Luis Perales and Dyango, who announced their retirement from the stage. “I don’t have much intention of saying goodbye. I like the tour and I like the people,” he maintains.
Introduce your new theme
Piero de Benedictis hopes that this Saturday, November 5, he can present his song “Esperanza” live, his new musical hit composed by Alcides Véliz in 2020.
“Hope” was created during the global pandemic that arose as a result of COVID-19, an event that allowed him to finish some musical projects.
“We will no longer be envious / Well, everyone will have suffered / We will no longer have laziness / We will be more compassionate / What belongs to everyone will be worth more / Than what has never been achieved / We will be more generous / Much more committed,” he sang during the interview. “Instead of talking, I prefer to sing,” she said with a laugh.
