The capsule descended under a red and white striped canopy, after entering the Earth’s atmosphere, at 04:35 GMT Sunday with Oleg Novitsky, Yulia Peresild and Klim Shipenko on board.
Actress Peresild and film director Shipenko flew to the space station on October 5, on a 12-day mission to shoot scenes from the movie “The Challenge,” which deals with the story of surgery, played by Peresild, who travels to the space station to rescue a crew member in need of urgent surgery in orbit. .
Nowitzki, who spent more than six months aboard the space station, played the ailing astronaut in the film.
After the descent, which sent a cloud of dust into the air, the ground crew took out the occupants of the capsule and seated them on seats set up nearby where they adapted to the force of gravity. After that, they will be taken to a medical tent for examination.
Everyone seemed healthy and happy. Peresild smiled and held a large bouquet of white flowers, while the reporters gathered around her.
But she said she also felt a touch of sadness.
“I feel a little sad today. It seemed like 12 days would be too long, but I didn’t want to leave when it was all over,” she told state television.
The transfer to the medical tent was delayed for about 10 minutes, as crews filmed several shots of Peresild and Nowitzki in their seats, footage that will be included in the film.
More scenes have yet to be filmed on the ground for the film, whose release date has yet to be confirmed.
There are still seven astronauts aboard the space station: Russians Anton Shkaplerov and Peter Dubrov, Americans Mark Vande Hee, Shane Kimbrough and Megan MacArthur, Thomas Pesquet of the European Space Agency and Japan’s Aki Hoshide.
