Philip Morris International (PMI) today inaugurated the new Center for Industrial Excellence, the largest in the world of SMEs for industrialization, process innovation, engineering and sustainability. The new Center is part of a broader investment plan for Italy equal to approximately 600 million euros in three years, linked to new non-combustion products, with an estimated direct, indirect and induced employment impact of around 8000 jobs along the supply chain.
In light of the role of global leader played by the Bologna production center, the first in the world for the large-scale production of innovative products without combustion, the activities carried out by the factories of Philip Morris Manufacturing & Technology Bologna they will thus be consolidated and integrated thanks to the birth of the new hub which will support PMI’s global R&D center in Neuchatel, Switzerland.
The services covered by the activities will include those in support of product prototyping And of industrialization, such as the identification of new machinery to make finished products on a large scale, the improvement of production processes, projects by sustainability aimed at improving environmental performance such asefficient and responsible use of resources.
The new Center, which will be operational by the end of the year, will involve a total of over 250 highly qualified people, among people who currently work in Philip Morris Manufacturing & Technology Bologna, new hires and staff that will move to Bologna from other affiliates of the PMI group.
