What will happen to franchises? ActivisionBlizzard now that they are part of microsoft? The answer to that question won’t come anytime soon, though. Phil Spencer, CEO of Microsoft Gaming, has advanced some of the plans it has for them. As part of a new interview with The Washington Post, the exec said he would like to bring back certain classic IPs from the publisher.
During that interview, spencer mentioned that he is very happy to have franchises like King’s Quest, Guitar Hero, and HeXen, to mention a few. In accordance with spencer, the people of Xbox and Microsoft he’ll be supporting Activision teams to work on franchises he loved as a kid.
“I was looking at the list of IPs, and I say, come on! King’s Quest, Guitar Hero,… I should know this, but I think they also have HeXen.”
In another part of the interview, spencer He also said that he and his team feel confident that all workplace culture issues within ActivisionBlizzard they will disappear over time, although he is aware that this process will not be solved overnight and promises to work with all those involved to reach an agreement that benefits all.
Publisher’s note: I think it would be a wasted opportunity if Microsoft didn’t make an effort to breathe new life into some of these classic franchises. I understand that it might be a bit tricky to resurrect something like Guitar Hero, but HeXen and King’s Quest could very well make a comeback.
