The state-owned company states that it “has not taken any new decision”; Bolsonaro government asked for the change on May 23
Petrobras’ board of directors met on Wednesday (June 8, 2022) to discuss the replacement of the company’s president and “did not make any new decisions” in addition to what was reported on May 25, according to a statement released by the state-owned company this Thursday (June 9). The government of Jair Bolsonaro (PL) decided to change the president of the state-owned company on May 23, when it announced the invitation to Caio Mario Paes de Andrade, current secretary of the Minister of Economy, Paulo Guedes.
On May 25, Petrobras’ board said it would convene a new extraordinary general meeting to vote on the change in command of the state-owned company. Did not disclose dates.
Petrobras also mentioned other steps to replace the company’s president, including the need for a new election to the board of directors. According to the company, the government must indicate the other 7 names that will compose the new council with Paes de Andrade.
